CALLING ALL
SISTERS!
CALLING ALL SISTERS!
I have already heard many
interesting, curious, shocking(!),
witty, fun, sad, heartfelt, and
downright flabbergasting (is that
still a word?) stories about SISTERS
and their SECRETS.
What about
yours?
If you can’t
remember secrets, what about any
fun/fond memories?
My sister, Joan
is two-and-a-half years older,
old enough to know better, I
often heard my mother say. Still,
Joan seemed to enjoy tormenting me
unmercifully. Especially when it
came to growing-up things…you know,
like getting my first pair of
“nylons” and the necessary
accompanying wardrobe gear. Don’t
even ask what she did when I started
to wear a bra. How on earth did I
survive being a younger sister?
One of the worst
things I remember was the first time
our parents left us alone without a
babysitter. For some reason, my
lovely sister saw that as the
perfect opportunity to scare the
heart and soul from me. When I close
my eyes I can still see her lunge
out of the front hall closet, flail
her arms, cross her eyes, and
shriek. It was a moment worthy of a
Stephen King bestseller.
Of course, I
also have many wonderful memories of
growing up with Joan. She taught me
how to climb a tree! She spent hours
and hours teaching me to play
Canasta! And let’s not forget the
“Neighborhood News” newspaper we
launched – my introduction to the
wonderful world of getting paid to
write! (I believe the price was 5¢
per edition, peddled and delivered
within a two-block radius from out
house.)
I hope you enjoy
my latest novel, THE SECRETS SISTERS
KEEP. And please SHARE your stories!
Write to me either through the
“Contact” link above, or by linking
to either my Facebook or Twitter
pages. Perhaps someday I’ll compile
them…anonymously, of course, if you
wish. My sister, however, will
definitely not remain
anonymous. Perhaps, at long last, I
have found the perfect
opportunity for a little
payback…J |
